Happy St Nicholas Day!

Saint. Nicholas, Sviatyij Mykolai, comes to Ukraine on December 19th in the Orthodox Julian calendar. The night is often called "Magic Night" or just St. Nicholas Day. It is seen as a universal children's festival.

It is a happy day with visiting and sleigh rides. Schools have plays telling Nicholas stories and the saint visits local churches. Dressed as a Byzantine bishop, the good saint is often accompanied by angels. He quizzes children on their catechism before giving gifts. 

St. Nicholas Day is the main day for gift-giving, though gifts are also becoming associated with Christmas Day. Today many Ukrainian churches have St. Nicholas celebrations to help children understand that the holy man Nicholas came long before Santa Claus.

Dashing through the snow

Recently, a great map appeared on the third floor of our school.The seventh-graders undertook a search job: they decided to supplement it with the names of Ukrainian cities in English.

At the Training

Teachers have been learning all their lives. During the training for the English language teachers, the students improved their  language skills and enriched their experience with teaching methods.

Ласкаво двері відкрили, мед-чай пили

Знавці англійської  мови МЗОШ 42  в День народження Планети 42   ласкаво двері відкрили  на урок гостей із школи 27 запросили.

 Всім відомо, що англійці дуже полюбляють пити чай.  Тож і наші «англійці»  не обійшлися без чаювання під час  приємного дозвілля  «At Rabbit’s Tea Party»

І я там була, мед-чай пила, по бороді текло, а в рот не потрапляло.
